Are you on Facebook, do you have an email account or do you engage in online banking? If your answer is 'yes', then you need to have a strong password. However, if none of them holds true for you, then the very fact that you use Internet or have digital resources at workplace make you an easy target for hackers if you have a weak password.

Do you come across news updates about an organization's network and databases being hacked or bank accounts of numerous customers being intruded? In such incidences, weak and predictable passwords are to be blamed. Password to an account is what a lock to your home is. Therefore, if the lock is weak how can you be sure of the security of your belongings? The same goes for your passwords to bank accounts, Email accounts, and databases in organizations.

Why Would A Hacker Like To Know My Password?
It is needless to mention that how vital strong passwords are for organizations that store heaps of personal customer information- such as banks, cloud service providers, third party management service providers and social media organizations. However, individuals managing their personal Email or social networking accounts too need to have safe passwords. How would you judge the credibility of websites, you enter your information in, which are meant only to harvest passwords of various visitors? Also, many of us are in the habit of reusing our passwords, in order to avoid the hassle of remembering various ones for different accounts we maintain.           

We trust our banks, social media operators and other websites holding our critical information. They are believed to handle our passwords and other personal information with utmost care. But it is important for you to keep a check as well. Moreover, the incidences of databases of well known social media and banking sector players being hacked isn't rare today. Also, anybody even remotely knowing you can easily predict your password, if it is weak. Apart from having a strong password, you must have able Internet security software programs in your PC which secure your online transactions and keep malicious codes carrying keylogger and other spyware programs at bay.
